What is Cellulite Reduction?
No matter how fit and thin you are, unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to prevent or eliminate cellulite on your own. Cellulite (a fibrous tissue) grows beneath the skin, most commonly around the stomach, hips, and thighs, and can create a bumpy, dimpled appearance. Dr. Gerry Sotomayor is pleased to offer cellulite reduction treatments with cutting-edge technology by Cellulaze™, which can smooth the appearance of cellulite for up to one year. The Cellulaze treatment uses minimally invasive laser energy to melt away fatty tissue and release the connective bands that cause the bumpy look of cellulite. Contact Gynecology and Cosmetic Surgery Center of Atlanta to schedule an appointment, and find out about the noticeable results you could achieve.
How Cellulaze Works
Cellulite reduction is an ideal treatment for patients who are at a healthy weight and want to reduce cellulite on their hips, stomach, buttocks, or legs. Before the procedure, Dr. Sotomayor will use a marker to identify your treatment areas. Next, local anesthesia will be used to numb the area being treated. A very thin laser wand will be inserted into the skin using the Cellulaze device. The laser energy melts the fat and separates the fibrous bands that cause cellulite. The procedure can typically be completed in less than an hour. In most circumstances, you will be able to return to your normal activities the day after your procedure, although you might experience temporary swelling, bruising, and tenderness. You should begin to notice your new, smooth results within about three months as collagen develops.
Cellulite reduction FAQs
What causes cellulite?
Cellulite is related to fat cells and the connective tissue beneath your skin. It often is present in noticeable areas like the thighs, hips, and bottom. Cellulite can be found on thin as well as overweight bodies. While the cause is unclear, medical professionals believe cellulite is the result of factors like age, genetics, and diet.
Are cellulite treatments painful?
Treatments are not painful but may be uncomfortable if you can't tolerate some pressure on your skin. Most of our patients at Gynecology and Cosmetic Surgery Center of Atlanta report a warm sensation during treatment. If you're worried about discomfort, our team members are happy to discuss the details and answer your questions.
How can I recover faster from cellulite reduction?
Nonsurgical cellulite reduction means that you can recover fairly quickly after your appointment. While you should be able to return to normal activities soon, we recommend avoiding rigorous exercises for a short period of time. We want to make sure you heal properly.
